Macbeth
Presented by Living Room Shakespeare
"All Hail Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter"
Spurred by ambition following the three witches prophecies, Macbeth & Lady Macbeth plot to kill King Duncan. Once the deed is done, the Macbeths unravel. They finally got the crown, but at what cost?
When Macbeth takes action against his friends Banquo and Macduff, he creates yet more enemies. Meanwhile, Duncan's son Malcolm rallies an army to fight for the crown.
Director's Note
Macbeth has long haunted me. It is a play with its own agency and its own wild pulse. Like the Weird Sisters on the heath, this play can choose to ensnare you.
What are the limits of free will and fate? Where is the line between reality and delusion? What is fair and what is foul? Macbeth is ripe with ambiguities and equivocation. It takes its viewer on a twisting journey down to hell.
In this intimate and urgent production, audience members must walk Macbeth's dark path alongside him. There is no place to hide up close. I hope, like me, you leave this experience haunted.
